I've never heard of "crowd-sourcing" before. I think it's interesting to consider the spin of "being careful who you send invites to" so as not to tip off the other people trying to get the news out first.
I also think the "what's next box" is interesting. It provides a reader complete control of what they will and what they have read, which really makes the reader compelled to stay at your blog and reading story. I think that's a brilliant idea.
